Finance, Growth and Decay
In this course, we cover the Grade 11 work which will be examined in trials and finals in lesson 1. We begin by focusing on compound interest and how to adjust our formula for changes in compounding period and changes to interest rates. We will also revise reducing balance depreciation, another concept from Grade 11.
Our focus on Grade 12 work begins when we use logs to solve for n. We will look at how to use the future value formula, calculating Fv, x (the instalment) and n (the number of payments). We will also look at some more complex questions, such as handling payments made at the beginning of the period.
We end the course by looking at the Present Value formula, calculating Pv, x (the instalment) and n (the number of payments). We will also examine how to calculate the outstanding balance on a loan.
This course takes the basics one step further to provide some extended examples and questions for those learners who enjoy a challenge. See you there!
